Continuing Professional Development CPD

What does CPD mean to you?

Continuing Professional Development CPD is something that is really important to our employees and volunteers these days with no real ‘job for life’, people are keen to keep their skills up to date and access the training and development that will keep them current in the job market should they need to.

Does your organisation offer CPD?

So many businesses in this world choose a number of job essential training courses and offer them as mandatory CPD, however, can your organisation truly say deep down and from the heart that they not only offer their staff development, but they have choice and direction in their development?

That is where many businesses could make a slight detour and gain much more, it isn’t just that if you invest in training that you will retain staff, you have to invest in their desires and get to know where they want to head in their chosen career.

The key is to be able to offer the subject choices of your employees to ensure that they feel listened to and valued.  The amount of times that I have heard – ‘What’s mindfulness got to do with my accountancy business’ – well it has a nothing whatsoever to do with your business, but it has a great deal to do with the mental wellbeing of your employees.

Statistically you are more likely to retain and have a happy workforce if you offer the CPD that they have stated they want and maybe even need. Consultation and collaboration with your staff team about what do they want is the key to a happy, healthy and productive team.

We consult with our team and find out what they want to learn.

Here at R-evolution we consult with the team to find out what they want to learn and we create an annual plan of CPD in advance so that the staff team know what is available and when.  They can look forward to the subjects they enjoy and they can plan ahead.

We know that offering a varied and interesting array of courses that meet their needs allows for a bit of excitement and positivity and there is a buzz among the team once they have completed their learning.

What CPD have we done already?

Our very first CPD for R-evolution Counselling and Coaching staff took place last week on Self-Care, highlighting the importance and the need for effective Self-Care for therapists.  The workshop was really good fun and the team who would normally practice self-care anyway, really gained from it as it was a reminder of what they need to do for themselves and it was two hours where they get to share with each other.

Feedback was ‘it was so beneficial to remind myself of how crucial self-care is and the consequences for ourselves and others when we don’t give it priority’ and ‘how amazing is that a little bit of time training can prompt so much change’.

Join us in our CPD training.

Our team have also asked if we could make our CPD available to other therapists so they can network and gain other input from people outside the organisation.

So as a training provider, we have done this and it has proved to be successful.  Other practitioners join us on our CPD training, where they want to join in on those subject matters and the team welcome them warmly into the team to participate in really positive CPD training.
