SQA Approved Centre

Counselling children and young people

We are delighted to announce have now been awarded accreditation as an SQA Approved Centre

Its been a long and windy road over the past few months, as we put all the structures in place to bring about the completion of our SQA accreditation as an approved centre.  I have spent many hours getting all our ducks in a row and ensuring we meet all the requirements of SQA. This allows us to start delivering their qualifications to learners and candidates we work with. In April 2021 we completed the process and were able to celebrate our success as an SQA centre.

Offering Post Graduate Counselling course to work with children & young people

The overall outcome is we can now deliver an SCQF level 11 PDA in Counselling children & young people. This is affiliated with BACP and SQA.  We are the first organisation in Scotland to be able to offer the course which we are in the process of launching. We will be advertising for applicants very soon, with our first intake in August 2021.

There is a significant lack of counsellors qualified to work with children and young people across Scotland. BACP and SQA collaborated to design the new qualification to alleviate the lack of available practitioners.

This is just the start of our new training offer in counselling courses, we will be adding to the list in the coming months.  We are set to offer Supervision training and the basic counselling certificate training amongst others.

Our Counselling and Coaching services are growing

In October 2020, we began our Counselling and Coaching services with parents across Moray experiencing poverty.  This services has got off to a great start and things are moving forward for those that have accessed the services.  We do this by offering placements to students counsellors, so that they offer their time as a volunteer.  In we return we offer them the opportunity to complete their course and access free CPD training across the year and group supervision.

We currently have 4 student counsellors, 2 qualified counsellors, a clinical lead and 3 life coaches, all delivering services to parents and young people across Moray.
